In spite of their tragically predestined public death Spanish fighting bulls are, without a doubt, some of the most pampered animals on earth (until they enter the ring).  Bread from selected stud bulls and cows that have proven themselves and won clemency they are raised on ranches the size of small counties and range to their hearts content, feeding on only the finest of natural products for the four or five years of their lives.  The Fighting Bull is a breed apart; produced by man's direct intervention like thoroughbred horses and other show animals.  Their existence is inconceivable without the art of bullfighting.
